A Reflection of Who I Am

Your Sacrifice, Was It Worth It?

Preparing for our day of prayer this Saturday, my heart and prayers goes out to the parents who suffer the disrespect of their children. What have you sacrificed to keep them clothed and fed?

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them” Ephesians 5:11 NIV –

Some time when you recognize that evil exists in your child, you feel your hands are tied and you begin to believe your only alternative is to throw in the towel and give in; hold on and just pray that God will show you the way to survive it. Pray that the Lord will work a miracle in your child’s life to show them the damage that they are doing to themselves, as well as, their family. Exposing them for who they are is not something that really has to be done in today’s world of social media they are exposing themselves for who they really are in their text and posts.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29 NIV

Facebook, twitter, Linkedin and such release the inhibitions of many who have lost sight of being Christ-centered at all times. It’s not like they haven’t been taught properly and with discipline. The streets, school and friends have a lot to influence their behavior and personality as they seek maturity.”If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5Pray unceasingly for guidance. Your sacrifice was not for nothing. This period too will pass.

Books Books and More

I’m sitting in LaUnique Bookstore and  African-American  Cultural and Arts Center. I love spending time browsing through the many different cultural books that I was not aware of. Especially by vintage books by J. A. Rogers, Carter G. Woodson, Lerone Bennett, Jr. and many others.  As a Christian, I’ve alway had conflicts of reading “ancestral” history books, because in the old testament my ancestors were the ones being destroyed by God.  Historically my peeps worships lesser gods and idols, and now as a follow of Jesus Christ I only worship the one true and living God.

Nevertheless, as a more mature Christian and avid reader and history lover, I have enough God-centered confidence that allows me to acknowledge my ancestors and their history.  I’m a strong believer that without understanding our history, we can never really truly know who we are.

I’ve also purchase books written by Muslim, as well as, Christian authors.

Well back to the books.  Here is a list that I’ve purchased since July.  I’m thinking about doing book reviews to entice you to buy the books. The website to the bookstore is http://www.launiquebooks.net.  The telephone number to the store is (856)338-1958. Mr. Larry Miles is the proprietor andcultural historian.
