Experience My First Book Launch Celebration

Yesterday I had the pleasure to experience my first book launch celebration as an Author. I preface “as an Author” because I have done book launches many times for individuals who I have helped get their book published. I know there may be some people who may be wondering what made me write a book and why would anyone want to read it? After all I’m not famous and haven’t done anything spectacular in my life. My answer to is, God gifted me with the ability to record my feelings and things that I’ve observed as I went through different seasons in my life. Knowledge, Faith and Helps are among my spiritual gifts. I am living and operating in my gifts so it was easy for me to make the decision to write about and publish my experience.

One of the statements that my pastor, George Holland, tells us is “What you are going through is not for you.” I know that is a hard statement to understand. Why would God put me through so much pain and heartache if it’s not for me? It is for you to experience the situation and grow stronger in your Christian journey. It is for you to share your experience with those who have yet to experience the situation or to share with those who have already experienced it.

“Joy Comes Through The Mourning” is my recorded story of death, mourning and resurrection in a new life. I recorded my experience as I went through the death of my late husband, Donald Karper; my attempts to cope and get through the grief cycle and how the different tools and individuals that the Lord sent into my life helped bring me through the darkness. Out of this experience my current husband also widowed, Willie Smart and I have become facilitators of a new ministry called “Crossroads”. During Fulfillment Hour we meet with the widowed community to scriptually focus on our collective experience. Our prayer is once we have established a strong structure we will move on to others who have suffered a loss of a loved one through other circumstances other than death. The deep void that a loss in a relationship sometimes causes God’s people to walk away from fellowship. Crossroads gives them a place to come where they can rebuild their faith and begin a stronger relationship with God.

I truly enjoyed myself yesterday and I want to thank the folk that came out to share that experience. I pray that I have more opportunities to share my story and to testify how God has given me a series of experiences that has brought me closer to HIM.

I encourage you to buy the book and read my story. Death comes to us all. As a survivor, death is something that we must be able to accept and work through. You can order “Joy” directly from my website-http://www.gladstonepublishing.com/JCTTM/Joy-1.htm.
